Once More: The TPP Agreement Is Not A Free Trade Agreement, It's A Protectionist Anti-Free Trade Agreement

We've pointed out a few times in the past that while everyone refers to the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement as a "free trade" agreement, the reality is that there's very little in there that's actually about free trade. If it were truly a free trade agreement, then there would be plenty of reasons to support it. But the details show it's not, and yet, time and time again, we see people supporting the TPP because "well, free trade is good." The Washington Post, for example, pushed out a ridiculous editorial arguing that the TPP is cause for celebration because it will "slash tariffs and harmonize regulatory regimes."

We’ve sold out the environment and our jobs: The ugly truth about the “toxic” TPP

History was made this week: 12 nations representing 40 percent of the global economy finalized the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the largest regional trade agreement ever made. While multinational corporations and free-market aficionados are rejoicing, however, environmental and labor groups warn that this was bad history in the making.

“It’s a corporate dream but a nightmare for those of us on Main Street,” remarked Chris Shelton, president of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union. It’s “clear that the TPP remains a bad deal for working families and communities.”

How the TPP Could Lead to Worldwide Internet Censorship

On Monday, we learned that global “leaders” had come to an agreement on the infamous Trans Pacific Partnership, or TPP. While discouraging, this doesn’t mean the game is over — far from it.

Although politicians have come to a secret agreement, this democracy killing, corporate monstrosity still has to pass the U.S. Congress. So it’s now up to all of us to create an insurmountable degree of opposition and make sure this thing is dead on arrival.

The more I learn about the TPP, the more horrified I become.

Internet under attack: Hidden clause in TPP to limit free speech, journalism, online

The TPP, a deal, which blankets, a good chunk, nearly 40% of the world’s economy includes a few ‘controversial provisions’ recently outlined by Andrew Griffin below:

One particularly controversial part of the provisions make it a crime to reveal corporate wrongdoing “through a computer system”. Experts have pointed out that the wording is very vague, and could lead to whistleblowers being penalized for sharing important information, and lead to journalists stopping reporting on them.

Others require that online content providers — such as YouTube and Facebook — must take down content if they receive just one complaint, as they are in the US. That will be harmful for startups looking to build such businesses since they’ll be required to have the resources to respond to every complaint, experts have pointed out.

Matt Drudge: Copyright Laws Could Outlaw Linking to Websites

During an appearance on the Alex Jones Show, Drudge asserted that copyright laws which prevent websites from even linking to news stories were being advanced.

“I had a Supreme Court Justice tell me it’s over for me,” said Drudge. “They’ve got the votes now to enforce copyright law, you’re out of there. They’re going to make it so you can’t even use headlines.”

“To have a Supreme Court Justice say to me it’s over, they’ve got the votes, which means time is limited,” he added, noting that a day was coming when simply operating an independent website could be outlawed.

William Cooper Predicted Rise In School Shootings In His Book Behold A Pale Horse

Author, broadcaster and former naval intelligence officer William Cooper has predicted many events which have come to fruition in recent years, making him one the more accurate philosophers of his era.

In his book Behold a Pale Horse, published in 1991, William Milton Cooper painted a picture of a government willing to manufacture and use any catastrophic event to further a global agenda to destroy America’s sovereignty by confiscating our guns.

National government betrays NZers in TPPA deal

Jane Kelsey: ‘This deal is a travesty of democracy’, said Professor Jane Kelsey about the conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) in Atlanta, USA.

‘The government has ignored, insulted and lied to its citizens.’

‘Minister Groser has misled New Zealanders. He always knew he was on a hiding to nothing on dairy. I have predicted many times that he would not do as he said and walk away from a lousy deal, but would make claim that there were some intangible future gains from being in the club. That’s exactly what’s happened’.

‘Professor Kelsey urged New Zealanders to ask a simple question: “who gave the Prime Minister and Trade Minister the right to sacrifice our rights to affordable medicine, to regulate foreign investment, to decide our own copyright laws, to set up new SOEs, and whatever else they have agreed to in this secret deal and present it to us as a fait accompli?’’.’

Now that the Trans-Pacific Partnership is finalised, the real fight starts

Activists have dogged the TPP process, ACTA, another secret treaty that was TPP 1.0. Like TPP, ACTA eventually went back to member-states. But then a funny thing happened: the people rose up. Across the US and Europe, people took to the streets, worked the phones, wrote letters. The normally boring business of the technicalities of law -- a death-sentence for any kind of public interest -- was overruled by the easiest-to-understand of points: if ACTA is so great, why did they have to keep it a secret?

Canada raids farm for supplying raw milk demand; food freedom activists successfully defend farm with civil disobedience

Michael Schmidt is a Canadian dairy farmer and raw milk advocate who was raided October 2 by Canadian bureaucrats and police. Michael has been a huge proponent for raw milk for over 30 years and he has been instrumental in changing policy on raw milk.

Michael currently operates a shareholder agreement with people who are part owners on the farm. This farm is not Michael's farm, but he does milk the cows and helps make deliveries to help the farmers out.
