New Zealand Swine Flu Vaccine Supplier To Be Baxter, The Company Caught Distributing Live Avian Flu Virus

Although there have been only 14 deaths reported in association with the “swine flu” virus in this country and cases of infection appear to be in decline, [1], Radio New Zealand today advised that Baxter International Inc. will be supplying swine flu vaccines to New Zealand, which will be sold under the name Celvapan, [2].

Many are raising questions about the safety of vaccine material sourced from the Deerfield, Illinois-based pharmaceutical company, Baxter International Inc., as it was reported by a number of sources, [3, 4] that Baxter was caught shipping live avian flu virus in December 2008 which had the potential to start a pandemic. This contamination was discovered when ferrets at a laboratory in the Czech Republic died after being inoculated with vaccine made from their samples, [4].
